mandap

Mandap, a ancient custom concept, described in Sanskrit texts. A wedding mandap is a temporarily erected four post structure to perform a hindu or jain wedding. The whole wedding ceremonies take place within the mandap with all the close family and a pundit who performs the ritual.

Mandaps are constructed of wood, with a small fire pit in the centre to bless the couple by the fire decorated seatings for the bride and the groom are set within the mandap.
